“Yoshitomo Nara: new works 2004” collects the artist’s most recent large dish paintings, paintings on paper, drawings and a slide show of photographs. Recognized for the innocent-looking, childlike figures that he creates, the artist subverts his subject’s facades with leering grins, sly smiles, knives and other subtle indicators of sinister complexity.
