During the 1980s, 11 rookies finished the NBA season averaging more than 20 points a game, but it has been four seasons since a rookie has done it (Elton Brand in 1999-2000). This season, Cleveland’s LeBron James (19.9 ppg) and Denver’s Carmelo Anthony (18.1) have a legitimate chance to average 20 points. A look at rookies who have averaged better than 20 per game since 1990:
