City Might Buy Land to Expand Griffith Park

The City Council voted in favor Tuesday of the idea of expanding Griffith Park by buying a large piece of land west of the Hollywood sign.
The 138-acre parcel of rolling mountaintop is in private hands, and city officials are concerned that it could be developed.
To prevent that, Councilman Tom LaBonge wants to team up with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy to purchase the plot.
