A 12-year-old boy was in fair condition at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles after colliding with a sheriff’s patrol car Sunday on his skateboard, officials said.
Sgt. Brian Dunn said Anthony Smith “shot out” between two parked cars in front of his home in the 800 block of West Avenue H-2 and hit the vehicle broadside about 12:30 p.m.
The boy sustained injuries to his arms, forehead and a leg, but Dunn said they did not appear to be life-threatening.
The car was traveling 10 to 15 mph, and the boy appeared to be at fault, the Sheriff’s Department said.
