Rod Guyton and Lynn Rohatiner (letters, July 5) defend construction of Israel’s occupation barrier and the daily hardships imposed on Palestinians as necessary measures for protecting Israel. Never mind that the Israeli “barrier” is being constructed on Palestinian land and, when completed, will absorb as much as 60% of the occupied West Bank into Israel.
If Guyton and Rohatiner think the way to protect Israel is to take yet more land from Palestinians and heap even greater abuses on them, then they are condemning the region to decades more of violence, suffering and instability.
