Riverside Woman Jailed After Fatal Car Accident

A 50-year-old Riverside woman was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after she allegedly ran a red light and slammed into an SUV on Sunday, killing one of its passengers, police said.
Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Shulman said the accident occurred about 1:15 p.m. at Bristol Avenue and Campus Drive.
Witnesses told police Deborah Whitehorn, 50, entered the intersection against a red light.
Neither she nor a passenger in her Dodge SUV were injured.
A male passenger of the Jeep died at the scene. A woman in the Jeep was also injured.
She is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Whitehorn was booked into the Newport Beach Police Department Jail. Her bail is set at $50,000.
