They know the best shortcuts, and they share

When I moved to Los Angeles, one thing I noticed was that people seemed friendly, approachable and open, until you started talking about traffic shortcuts. It’s easier to get strangers at a cafe to discuss their plastic surgeries than which quick route they use to get to the airport at rush hour.
Nevertheless, one site dares to bare it all: A-1 Courier messenger service devotes a page on its site to the byways its messengers use to zip packages and papers around town. Maps added to this page would be a nice touch, but if you’re that new to Los Angeles, a simpler option would be just to stick to the green freeways on trafficinfo.lacity.org/. They’re the ones moving faster than 20 mph.

Hone your driving skills with this simple Flash game. Sure, you’ll be steering a little rocket ship instead of a car. But the next time you watch someone cut across several lanes toward a freeway exit, you’ll think, “Hey, this is just like that ‘diamond of terror’ level.”
