Body in Irvine May Be Long Beach Man

A body found Friday in an Irvine field is apparently that of a Long Beach landlord who disappeared while changing locks at an evicted tenant’s apartment, officials said.
Police believe the body discovered about noon near Laguna Canyon Road and Sand Canyon Avenue is that of Kaj Hansen, 79, who was reported missing Thursday night to the Long Beach Police Department.
Authorities are treating the case as a homicide.
“He seems to have died by the hands of another,” said Irvine Police Sgt. Wally Prestidge, who would not elaborate on the cause of death.
The body was discovered by two men flying model airplanes in the field.
Prestidge said the men were questioned and their vehicles searched, but there was no indication they were involved in the man’s death.
A woman in the 6100 block of Linden Avenue in Long Beach reported late Thursday night that her husband had not returned from the apartment complex they own.
When the wife arrived at the apartment, she saw bloody drag marks that led from the door to an alley.
