Burbank police detectives shot and killed a 25-year-old man after he struck one of them with his car, authorities said Saturday.
The two detectives tried to talk to the man, a suspect in a drug investigation, about 10:30 p.m. Friday in an alley near Oxnard Street and Coldwater Canyon Avenue, police said.
According to a statement released by police, the detectives walked toward the man -- whose name was not released pending notification of relatives -- and identified themselves as police officers.
The suspect then allegedly accelerated his car toward them, striking one of the detectives.
Both detectives fired at the car, wounding the man, who died at the scene, police said.
The injured detective was treated at a local hospital and released.
