Ukrainian Train’s Next Stop Is Scrap Yard

From Times Wire Reports
Thieves stole what Ukrainians say was their nation’s oldest train and sold it as scrap metal after tricking museum guards in the city of Donetsk, police said. A police spokesman said the thieves used forged documents to convince the guards that the train had to be moved.
They probably used a crane to move the locomotive, which dates back to 1924, and then cut it into pieces to sell. Parts were found in a scrap yard.
Theft of parts of bridges, electric cables and manhole covers for scrap is common in Ukraine, where poverty is widespread.
