Suspect Is Sought After Man Stabbed in Orange

An 18-year-old man remained in critical but stable condition Sunday after being stabbed several times in an apparent case of mistaken identity, Orange police said.
The suspect, Ashoob Oluomi, 22, of Orange, fled the scene Saturday evening and is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, Sgt. Dave Hill said.
Oluomi approached the victim, whom police would not name, on North Canal Street while he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a convertible. Police said Oluomi challenged the victim to a fight, punching him in the face and stabbing him in the upper body.
The victim, with a punctured kidney and two punctured lungs, is being treated at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Oluomi mistook the victim for another, but Hill said, “Even though he realized it wasn’t the person he thought it was, he still ended up stabbing him.”
Oluomi is described as 5 feet 11 and 170 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium build. A tattoo on his left forearm says “Afghan” and one on the inside of his right forearm says “Pride.”
