Man Sentenced in 15-Year-Old Slaying

A man who was linked by DNA to the 1989 slaying of his ex-girlfriend was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years to life in state prison.
Arturo Johannas Gutierrez, 42, was convicted in December of killing Christie Lee Fleming, 25.
The Sheriff’s Department revived the case in 2002 when Gutierrez was linked by DNA to cigarette butts in the victim’s Whittier apartment.
