From Times Wire Reports
An Iranian court reimposed a death sentence on a history lecturer in a blasphemy case -- a verdict that sparked mass student protests in 2002.
Judiciary chief Zekrollah Ahmadi said the judge had confirmed his original ruling against Hashem Aghajari. The case now returns to the Supreme Court for a final ruling.
The charge stemmed from a speech in which Aghajari said Muslims were not “monkeys” to blindly follow clerics’ teachings.
