Police Kill Attacking Pit Bull

Two Costa Mesa police officers shot and killed a 60-pound black pit bull Friday after the dog attacked one of them during the arrest of two teenage boys, authorities said.
Officers Eric Wisener and Jeff Graham were escorting the boys -- ages 16 and 17 -- to their squad car in the 200 block of Bowling Green Drive about 1 p.m. when the dog bit Wisener in the right thigh, a department spokesman said.
The animal let go and began charging again, but both officers shot it several times.
The two boys -- whose names were not released because of their ages -- were being issued a traffic citation earlier at Fairview Road and Princeton Drive when they fled, leading officers to the house from which the dog emerged.
Both boys were taken into custody and booked for resisting arrest.
