Timeshares offer luxury with options

In “Timeshare Market Is Booming, but They’re Not for Everyone” [Travel Insider, May 16], Jane Engle ignores a point about timeshares that other writers also seem to ignore: Timeshares are sold on the scope of the accommodation. A timeshare gives you a luxury condominium for a week at your home resort or at a location for which you have made an exchange.
As owners of a timeshare in Palm Desert, we spend two weeks each year in a villa that only the extremely wealthy could afford. We never trade that one, but we also own another time- share that we do trade, and we have stayed in lovely condominiums in locations as diverse as Scottsdale, Ariz., and St. Tropez, France.
