Northwest Airlines CEO Resigns

Northwest Airlines Corp. said Chief Executive Richard Anderson would resign and be replaced by President Douglas Steenland, who is leading the company’s efforts to win union concessions needed to stem losses.
Anderson, 49, will become executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group Inc. Steenland will add the title of chief executive immediately, the airline said.
Shares of Eagan, Minn.-based Northwest closed up 34 cents to $8.55 on Nasdaq.
