Salmon Run Seen as Better Than Normal

After two years of lower than expected salmon runs, U.S. Forest Service officials said this fall’s kokanee salmon spawn at Lake Tahoe is shaping up to be better than normal.
An estimated 60,000 to 80,000 fish are expected to make the trip up Taylor Creek on the lake’s south shore, said Forest Service spokesman Rex Norman.
In a typical year, he said, about 40,000 adult salmon go up the creek to spawn. But last year, only about 5,000 fish made the upstream journey.
