A car hopped the curb outside an elementary school in a Boston suburb as class was letting out, pinning children and adults against a concrete wall and injuring 12 people, including at least five children, authorities said.
The crash happened as students from Central Elementary School in Stoneham were being picked up by their parents. Police Chief Gregory O’Keefe said the driver was an elderly man, but did not provide his age.
O’Keefe said he did not know the relationship between the driver and a student he picked up, who was in the car at the time of the crash. He said speed, drugs or alcohol did not appear to be factors.
