Price Increase Looks Like Simple Greed

Regarding “Starbucks to Raise Prices 11 Cents a Cup,” Sept. 28:
In announcing price increases, Starbucks cited the increased cost of coffee as one factor, and noted that there had been no increase since 2000.
This is very curious, since New York Board of Trade (www.nybot.com) historic data show that coffee sells for less now than it did in 2000, and Starbucks didn’t reduce prices when the price of coffee beans fell dramatically.
This Starbucks fan and stockholder thinks a price increase now is just another example of corporate greed.
