Family rock ‘n’ roller Ralph Covert, among the best of the best, just keeps topping himself. This CD is a marvel, vibrant with wildly playful lyrics, beautiful melodies and deftly varied styles -- wistful Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young-style harmonies, muscular rock and 1930s old-timey rhythms -- that will charm the socks off adults and keep kids grooving.

Daddy a Go Go:
Mojo a Go Go
John Boydston
CD: $13.99
Ages 5 to 10
www.daddyagogo.com
Sounding like a rowdy 1960s rock ‘n’ roller, Boydston serves up comical kid- and parent-centric lyrics and slick guitar riffs in songs with a maximum bounce factor guaranteed to give baby boomers flashbacks to their Beatles-and-Beach Boys days.

How to get up close and personal with real lions in the wild? Use a “boulder cam,” and make it so cozily familiar that one mother lion uses it as a footrest while nursing her cubs. The making-of extras are worth the purchase price (a “dung cam” gets close to a herd of elephants).
The feature itself, with voice-overs led by Helen Mirren and Kate Winslet, grafts a coming-of-age tale about a rebellious young cub onto film of trained and wild lions, making them “talk” via the Jim Henson Workshop. It has charms, but is a bit of a slog at times, and despite cuddly cubs, its tooth-and-claw elements are too intense for young children.

A CD reissue of one of the most treasurable audio recordings ever made, the 1974 Grammy-winning audio performance of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s poignant novel. The cast is headed by Richard Burton as the stranded pilot who learns a lesson of the heart from the innocent title character, memorably played by 8-year-old Billy Simpson. Jonathan Winters, Jim Backus, John Carradine and Mark Conrad round out the cast.
