Heads Up

From the Seattle Times review of “Ladder 49”: “[Joaquin] Phoenix, with his husky, big-headed handsomeness, looks like a younger [John] Travolta.” In the same day’s L.A. Times [“Their Blaze of Glory,” Oct. 1], Carina Chocano says of Phoenix, “The actor has a smallish head, a thick neck and greenish eyes like lily pads, which suggest depth, serenity and a certain type of chunky solidity.”

Regardless of the utter idiocy of this description, what ... size is his head? That’s really what we in movieland want to know.
