POINT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE, Calif. -- A shark attacked a surfer Sunday morning at Limantour Beach, sending the man to a hospital, officials said.
The surfer, whose legs were dangling over the edge of his surfboard, told authorities that the shark bit a lower leg but let go after he hit it on the head.
Park officials have closed Limantour Beach, about 50 miles north of San Francisco, and adjoining Drakes Beach for five days with plans to reopen them if no more shark sightings are reported.
