Builder Optimism Rises to Highest Level in 2004

U.S. home builders’ optimism grew in October to its strongest level in 2004 on low mortgage rates and heavy traffic of potential buyers, beating analyst expectations, an industry report said.
The National Assn. of Home Builders said its housing index was at 72 in October, up from September’s downwardly revised figure of 67. An index reading above 50 indicates more builders consider sales conditions good rather than poor.
