Fatal Accident Prompts Warnings on Rides

The federal government advised owners and operators of spinning amusement park rides to stop using them until further inspections are done, following an accident last month that killed a 38-year-old man.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said it is investigating the Sept. 19 accident at a church fair in Shrewsbury, Mass., on a ride called the Sizzler.
The Sizzler and Deluxe Sizzler rides, made by Wisdom Industries Ltd. of Sterling, Colo., rotate clockwise while three four-seat sections turn counterclockwise, the commission said.
