Off-road chief resigns

The director of a group that advocates access to public lands for off-road vehicles resigned last month after authorities cited him for allegedly taking clients on a backcountry motorcycle tour without a license.
Bill Dart had gone on leave from the Idaho-based BlueRibbon Coalition after a U.S. Forest Service agent cited him on a charge of conducting business without a license in Idaho’s Sawtooth National Forest.
Dart, the forest service alleges, took an unknown number of people on a paid tour, which carries a $200 fine. A hearing is set for Nov. 1 in Boise.
Dart, who did not return calls for comment, is contesting the citation, said Clark Collins, who assumed the post as coalition director.
