Judge Says Enron Execs Must Be Tried Together
- Share via
A federal court ruled that former Enron Corp. Chairman Kenneth L. Lay should be tried alongside fellow former executives Jeffrey K. Skilling and Richard Causey on charges linked to the disgraced energy company’s collapse.
The ruling, handed down by U.S. District Judge Sim Lake in Houston, denied requests by the three to be tried separately on dozens of charges of conspiracy, fraud, money laundering and insider trading.
Four charges against Lay relating to bank fraud and false statements to banks regarding personal loans made to him were severed from the case and will be tried separately.
