Woman Who Shot Husband Gets New Trial

A woman serving 40 years to life in prison for the shotgun killing of her husband must get a new trial because the defense wasn’t allowed to show that the victim was on drugs.
The 4th District Court of Appeal reversed the conviction of Sherry Desrosiers, 33, of Buena Park, ruling this week that the defense was unfairly precluded from showing that Danny Desrosiers was under the influence of methamphetamines. “The defendant had evidence and experts literally waiting in the hall ... and she should have been allowed to present it,” the three-justice panel wrote.
