Pedestrian Hit by Car and Dragged to Death

A pedestrian was killed Sunday after being struck by at least one car and dragged along a half-mile stretch of Vermont Avenue, police said.
The victim was so badly mutilated that it was not immediately possible to even determine the gender, police said. “It’s a pretty gruesome scene,” said Sgt. Peter Casey.
Officers found about half of the body 12 blocks from where the victim was initially struck, near Gage Avenue, police said. The victim was caught up in the undercarriage of a car.
The car’s owner was being held, Casey said, but no charges had been filed as of late Sunday.
