Toddler Dies After Suffering Head Injuries

Richmond police detectives are investigating the death of a 16-month-old girl taken to a hospital Saturday with head injuries. Authorities placed the dead child’s 2-year-old sister in protective custody after similar injuries were discovered on her body. Police questioned the child’s mother, but she was released late Saturday, said Sgt. Ed Medina.
The mother, whose name was not released, called paramedics at 3 p.m. to report that her daughter was not breathing.
