City Again Rejects Trapping of Coyotes

The City Council again shot down an emergency measure to allow the trapping of a band of coyotes that residents say is terrorizing their gated community.
A city ban prevents federal, state or county workers from trapping and killing animals that might pose a threat to the public. But the Santa Clara County Vector Control District called the situation at Villas of Almaden dangerous, prompting the effort to change the ordinance.
An initial measure was rejected Oct. 5, but again came before the council Tuesday at the urging of Councilwoman Pat Dando and residents of the 192-home enclave.
