Chinese Art From the Permanent Collection: An array of Asian art, including many pieces on view for the first time, is highlighted in this exhibition at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. Included are Buddhist sculptures in limestone, marble, wood and metal, plus delicate watercolor paintings, a silk tapestry and a painted hand scroll. The works date from the 5th century to the 19th century. Many of the Chinese works were selected by the museum’s founder, R.H. Norton, with an eye to acquiring the best examples from the most important periods in China’s history.
Exhibition ends Monday at the Norton Simon Museum, 411 W. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena. (626) 449-6840.
