A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson Friday in connection with a series of fires that has damaged or destroyed 30 trees since Oct. 27.
Authorities would not identify him because of his age.
The fires -- most involving cypress and palm trees -- have caused about $100,000 worth of damage to the plants and nearby properties including a garage and a church, said Capt. Ben Gonzales, a spokesman for the Santa Ana Fire Department.
The boy was being held at Orange County Juvenile Hall.
