Obstacle course offers a new option

THE U.S. Forest Service is considering adding a new obstacle course to the San Gabriel Canyon Off-Highway Vehicle Area.
The proposed 2-acre course would include a rock garden, a bed of logs and a boulder array. It would be built adjacent to the OHV parking lot on San Gabriel Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest north of Azusa.
The Azusa Canyon Off Roaders Assn. hopes to raise $150,000 to pay for construction. Association president Mike Bishop says the obstacle course gives riders an option when the San Gabriel Reservoir floods other spots.
Bishop hopes the first phase of construction will be completed by next year.
