Knight Caps Late Rally by Loyola

Matthew Knight’s three-point play with 19.7 seconds remaining helped Loyola Marymount defeat host San Francisco, 50-49, on Saturday night.

Knight, who sprained his right ankle after crashing against the scorer’s table while diving for a loose ball late in the second half, finished with 12 points and five rebounds to help the Lions (11-11 overall, 3-6 in West Coast Conference) win for the third time in the last 11 games.

Tyrone Riley had 18 points and a career-high 20 rebounds for the Dons (13-9, 4-5).

The Lions trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half.

San Diego 92, Pepperdine 88 -- Alex Acker scored 31 points, but the Waves faltered down the stretch at San Diego.

Nick Lewis scored a career-high 28 points and Brandon Gay had 24 for the Toreros (12-10, 4-5), who won their second in a row after three consecutive defeats.

Pepperdine pulled even, 88-88, on a jump shot by Acker with 38 seconds to go.

But Gay followed with a three-pointer with 25 seconds left and made a free throw with nine seconds left to seal the win.

The Waves (13-11, 3-6) lost for the fifth time in six games.

No. 17 Gonzaga 92, Santa Clara 75 -- Ronny Turiaf and Adam Morrison each scored 22 points for the Bulldogs (17-4, 7-2), who took advantage of cold shooting in the first half by the Broncos (12-12, 5-4) at Spokane, Wash.

Santa Clara made only one of its first 13 shots and shot 39% for the game.

Kyle Bailey had 25 points for the Broncos.
