Inner-City Violence

Re “Laura Bush to Shepherd Program for Troubled Boys,” Feb. 3: After unleashing immense violence against Iraq, our president has called on inner-city youths to turn their backs on the use of force. A much greater man, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., spoke of the difficulty he had in urging the oppressed to use only peaceful means. I am not endorsing violence, but there is a rather pointed irony here.
