A 34-year-old Oxnard man fatally shot a couple he shared an apartment with, before killing himself, police said Monday.
Raul Ortiz Arteaga shot Juan Carlos Carriedo, 33, and Maria De Los Angel Juarez Carriedo, 35, about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at their apartment in the 700 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard, Oxnard Police Cmdr. Bryan MacDonald said.
Arteaga and Juan Carlos Carriedo were pronounced dead at the scene. Maria Carriedo was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where she died a short time later.
Arteaga and the Carriedos had returned home just before the shooting occurred after spending the day together at a party in Newbury Park, MacDonald said.
No motive for the killings has been determined, MacDonald said.
“Unfortunately the three best people that could have explained to us what happened are no longer with us,” he said.
“We are aware of no argument ahead of time, no yelling, no shouting, just all of a sudden the shooting.”
