Border Patrol Agent in Drug Case Denied Bail

A U.S. Border Patrol agent charged Wednesday with smuggling drugs in a government vehicle was denied bail by a federal magistrate who said the officer had violated the trust of the American people.
Agent Luis Francisco Higareda, 30, of Holtville, Calif., allegedly led federal agents on a 20-mile, high-speed chase and was found carrying 750 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.
