A’s Extend Win Streak to Seven, 6-2

Dan Johnson and Bobby Crosby homered and Dan Haren (7-7) won his sixth decision in a row Thursday to lead the Oakland Athletics to a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Oakland.

It was the seventh consecutive victory for Oakland and third loss in a row for Seattle. The A’s were helped by three errors from Seattle third baseman Adrian Beltre.

Oakland is scheduled to start a three-game series today against Chicago, which has the best record in baseball, and plays a three-game set next week at Chicago.

“It’s going to be a good test for us,” Crosby said, “to see where we’re really at.”

The A’s won for the 11th time in 12 games to finish June with a 19-8 record after going 7-20 in May.

“June has been terrific,” A’s Manager Ken Macha said. “We’ve got nine games left until the All-Star break and six of them against the team with the best record in baseball.”

Chicago 6, Detroit 1 -- Freddy Garcia (8-3) pitched a five-hitter for his first complete game and the White Sox finished a three-game sweep of the Tigers, losers of four in a row, at Detroit.

Cleveland 9, Baltimore 3 -- Coco Crisp had three hits and drove in two runs at Baltimore and the Indians won for the ninth time in 11 games.
