National Elections End Military Rule

People in Central African Republic turned out in large numbers for presidential and parliamentary elections to end two years of military rule.
President Francois Bozize, a former army general who seized power in 2003, was seen as the favorite among 11 candidates. His main challenger was former military ruler Andre Kolingba.
Central Africans also voted in parliamentary elections contested by 709 candidates, including 152 women, for 105 seats.
