On air for USO
KRTH-FM (101.1) and KNX-AM (1070) will launch a two-day radiothon today to raise money for the Bob Hope Hollywood USO at Los Angeles International Airport.
The stations’ on-air personalities will be soliciting contributions and fielding calls from entertainers and civic leaders about the airport facility from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
The USO center is a recreation and service area for U.S. military personnel and their families to use as they prepare to depart for overseas duty or await the return of arriving troops. It is supported entirely by private donations.
