Man Killed on Freeway Shoulder Identified

Police on Friday identified a man struck and killed while attending his car on the side of a freeway as John Warren Hayes, 59, of Mission Viejo.
Hayes was repairing his Volkswagen on the shoulder of the southbound Interstate 5 near Alicia Parkway on Thursday when he was hit by a big-rig truck about 11:40 a.m., officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
