Former Doctor Pleads No Contest to Fraud

A former Brentwood physician pleaded no contest Tuesday to auto insurance and workers’ compensation fraud and tax evasion in a multimillion-dollar insurance scheme.
Parviz Kahn Berkis, 71, faces up to 10 years in prison when sentenced Nov. 30 and will be required to repay $5 million for his role in three cases from 1996 to 2004.
Victims included 11 insurance companies and the state.
