2 Senior Police Officers Suspended in Rape Case

Pakistani authorities suspended two senior police officers after the prime minister ordered an inquiry into a 23-year-old woman’s allegation that she had been kidnapped and raped for trying to expose police corruption.
The woman said that she had been seized in the eastern city of Faisalabad and that a police inspector raped her. She also accused Faisalabad police chief Khalid Abdullah of ordering her rape, a charge that prompted Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to open an investigation.
An official at Aziz’s office said Abdullah and the inspector had been suspended.
