‘Dancer’ drowned

THE Sept. 11 Calendar carried an ad and a Fall Arts Preview inclusion for the Old Globe Theatre’s production of “The Dancer’s Life,” starring Chita Rivera. This production was included in the subscription materials I received from the Ahmanson. Subsequently, I received a letter stating that the production had been canceled because it was too costly. “Dead End” cost $1 million more than the Ahmanson’s $2.5 million projected needs, yet the funds became available. Too bad a similar effort couldn’t have brought “The Dancer’s Life” to L.A.
