GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
* Chelsea Pavlik, Santa Ana Mater Dei: Had 29 kills and 16 digs for the host Monarchs, ranked No. 2 in Division II-AA, who outlasted Los Alamitos, the No. 1 team in Division I-A, 25-19, 25-22, 25-27, 19-25, 15-12.
* Sonja Newcombe, Lake Arrowhead Rim of the World: Had 10 kills and 21 blocks as the Fighting Scots, ranked No. 1 in Division III-AA, posted a 25-21, 25-12, 21-25, 26-24 win over Mission Viejo, ranked third in Division I-A.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
* A.J. Abrego, Pico Rivera El Rancho: Scored seven goals, including the game-winner with 1:10 left, in a 16-15 victory over San Bernardino in the Los Altos tournament.
CROSS-COUNTRY
* Alyssa Brown, Mission Viejo: Ran three miles in 18:37 to break the course record by two seconds in a South Coast League dual meet against Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley at Laguna Niguel Park.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
* Michelle Sulahian, North Hollywood Campbell Hall: Swept three singles sets for the Vikings, who beat host West Hills Chaminade on games, 85-78, for their 17th consecutive win. Sulahian beat the Eagles’ Kate Carnahan, 6-3, to tie the match at nine sets apiece.
