7 Kurdish Rebels Killed; Suspect in ’05 Blast Held

Turkish commandos backed by helicopter gunships late Friday killed six Kurdish rebels they said were responsible for killing five Turkish soldiers earlier in the week, local officials said. The operation was launched in Sirnak on the Iraqi border. Troops killed a seventh rebel outside the town of Batman, the Anatolian news agency reported.
Police also reported the arrest of a Kurd they believe killed five people in an Aegean resort bombing last year.
