Seven Taliban rebels disguised themselves as visitors to escape a high-security Kabul prison being refurbished in preparation for the arrival of terrorism suspects from the U.S. detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, officials said.
The seven men persuaded guards at the crumbling Policharki Prison to let them walk out Sunday by marking their hands with a fake ink stamp similar to one used to identify visitors, said Deputy Minister for Justice Mohammed Qasim Hashimzai.
The prisoners do not wear uniforms.
