Confusion and chaos at LAX terminal

RICK TAN’S letter regarding the chaos at Tom Bradley terminal at LAX was right on [“Hey, LAX, How About a Few Signs?” Letters, June 25]. On a recent evening, I accompanied relatives to the terminal and unfortunately witnessed the zoo-like situation the passengers were put through.
A few X-ray inspection lines were so long that they had to stop in the middle of the hall so as not to affect the traffic flow and were re-directed outside the terminal doors. From there, lines stretched onto the curb.
Passengers were confused about which lines they should stand in for their flights because there are no signs whatsoever to direct the traffic. I saw passengers hauling a cart of luggage getting pointed in different directions.
It took us almost two hours to get through the luggage check-in procedures.
Asked how a major airport of such a modern country could demonstrate nothing but confusion and chaos, I had nothing to say. All I could do was feel embarrassed.
