The brakes on a Russian Airbus A-310 may have failed as the plane landed in Irkutsk, causing a crash that killed at least 122 people, Russian news reports said.
The plane was carrying at least 201 people on the 2,600-mile flight from Moscow. Fifty-eight people were injured. Ten passengers escaped through an emergency hatch and others, including a pilot, were saved by rescuers, Itar-Tass reported.
After veering off the runway Sunday morning, the plane tore through a concrete barrier, crashed into a compound of garages and stopped a short distance from houses.
