Egyptian Officers Slain in Clash With Israelis

Three Egyptian security officers crossed into Israel and traded fire with troops there, leaving two of the Egyptians dead, Israeli officials said. They called the violence a rogue incident that would not tarnish relations.
Egyptian police said it wasn’t clear why the security officers had crossed into Israel. Each side said the other shot first.
Egypt’s Interior Ministry argued that the officers were within Egypt, but Israel said the border was clearly marked.
